The aim of this 1 day course is to equip learners with the skills, knowledge & understanding to safely operate a Road Roller – Surface Dressing, Double Drum and Single Drum.

Course Objectives:

• On completion of this course the learners will be;

• Aware of the current Health & Safety Legislation as it applies to safe operation of Rollers

• Able to operate a Roller in a safe and efficient manner

• Aware of the operator manual in terms of Safety Instructions, Risks and Inspection/Maintenance sections

• Aware of the hazards associated with operating a Road Roller

• Course Content:

• Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005

• Employers & Employees legal duties under current Health & Safety Legislation

• Pre-use inspection of equipment

• Machine functions & controls

• Classroom based presentation and multiple choice assessment. Learners will gain both expert tuition and some practical experience of operating a Roller.

Pre-requisites

• Be at least 18 years of age,

• As with all courses; this course can be delivered at an alternative venue, provided that a suitable practical site location, Road Roller and presentation area can be attained.
